"Crai crai crai"

Music at the Court of Naples

Tarantelle, Villanelle, Frottole and Tamurriate, Ensemble ONI WYTARS presents the music from 1600-1700 at the royal court of Naples, an incredible variety of cultural ingredients, from the very center of the Mediterranean sea, an intriguing concert-programme.

The kingdom of Naples, for centuries a melting pot of different cultures, a bridge between moorish and european culture and lifestyle, has left us a nearly inexaustable multi-ethnic heritage.
Moors, Byzantines, Longobards, Normans, Spanish and Bourbons, they all left their traces and, as a result, we have a blend of cultural influences wich fascinates us with its exotic singularity. The “Villanella alla Napoletana”, at the time, inspired composers from all over Europe, among them numerous masters from the Netherlands, wich for many years were employed at the royal napolitan court.
