"Gloria in cielo e pace in terra"
Heavenly music for Christmas from 5 centuries
The message of the "Star in the Orient" has occupied people for centuries and inspired the imagination of artists since the early Middle Ages. Numerous manuscripts and song collections have given us musical testimonies of this phenomenon, which tell us about the "star that illuminates all people, the poor and the rich, the large and small, rulers and farmers”.
Even today, this medieval tradition of songs handed down orally continues at the Christmas season, in which the saints do not appear as heavenly beings but as "normal“ people who take part in everyday life and bring the message of peace.
The ONI WYTARS ensemble presents music from the 13th - 16th century, from an ancient Europe full of myths, legends and saints – a journey through the Mediterranean in the footsteps of the star of Bethlehem.
