"Mediterraneum"

Ancient worlds of improvisation between orient and occident

"Ten thousand rivers flow into the sea, but it never overflows ..."

The floods of the Nile and the Tiber, the spring water from the Caucasus, the Balkans, the Pyrenees, the Alps and the Atlas mountains mingle in the Mediterranean. The Romans called it "Mare Nostrum" - "our sea" - and yet it belongs to everyone.

With top-class guests and exotic instruments, Oni Wytars embarks on a musical journey through times, countries, religions, traditions and presents, together with great Mediterranean musicians, music from the Byzantine and Ottoman periods, Italian instrumental music of the Trecento and its traces in the folk music tradition of southern Italy and the islands of Sicily and Sardinia, pilgrim songs from the Catalan "Llibre vermell de Montserrat", sefardic romances and Greek lyra sounds who let the listener dip into a real Mediterranean sound cosmos.
